Bedtime Stories with Luke

I was reading Goodnight Moon to Luke and he grabbed his Bible and asked me to read it to him. I told him I'd read it when we finished Goodnight Moon. I kept reading, and he got mad, so he opened his Bible and started reading it to me, "No more monkeys jumping on my bed!" Maybe its a Proverb that I've never read before?

Prayers from a six year old

Dear God,

Sometimes I obey, but sometimes I don't. I just really really like you. You're cool and can do even cooler things like miracles and stuff. And I love you. Help me to be nice and not mean and to listen to my teachers so I never get into trouble.

Amen.

Backyard Birdy

Seth and I were outside and saw a bird on the fence above our garden. She dove down into the butterfly bush and we heard a baby chirping.

We wanted to see if we could find a nest, so we started looking through the bush and we found this cute little baby bird hopping around.

She hopped all the way to the other end of our garden and eventually went down the brick wall and started hopping around the backyard along the edge of the fence.

The entire time, the mommy bird kept flying away and returning with food. Every time she came back, she would call to her baby and as soon as the baby would answer, she would swoop down and feed it wherever it was.

Seth found a worm and wanted to give it to the mommy bird so she could feed it to the baby. He threw it toward the bird so she could get it, but I think she was intimidated by the size of it. It was a big worm!

AWANAS Award Night

We had our annual awards night for AWANAS  2 weeks ago.  (I'm really behind in my blogs).  There was one particular Spark that was hamming it up for the camera.  I won't name names.

Seriously.  Who is his daddy?  I think the kid is trying to rock the house in this picture:  

Whew!  Someone finally gave him an award and he stopped making those faces so his momma could get a decent picture.  

His brother thought he was pretty cool and was secretly plotting all the gestures he would make when it is his turn to get an award next year.
